Jud Hartmann: "I have long been fascinated with early maps. A number of years ago clients of ours purchased a home on Mustique in the Grenadines in the Caribbean. They asked if I would consider creating sculptures that might fit in that setting. Thus was born this small series of mythical sea creatures inspired by the images often found swimming in the oceans of the 16th c. Maps."
